From September 1 to 3, 2026, the Abidjan Exhibition Centre came alive with the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC). Organized by the Coffee-Cocoa Council, this major event brought together all the key stakeholders in the sector under the theme: “Youth and the Future of Cocoa Farming.” As a committed player in the trading and marketing of agricultural commodities, SONES SA was proud to take part in this strategic event shaping the future of Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa industry.
Against the backdrop of an aging agricultural workforce, the 2026 edition of the JNCC placed particular emphasis on putting young people at the heart of the discussions. The objective is clear: to attract, train, and support the younger generation in order to ensure the modernization and sustainability of Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa sector. At SONES SA, we fully share this vision. The long-term future of our industry depends on sustainable practices, innovation, and strong partnerships with passionate and valued producers.
The event also marked the official launch of the new 2026–2027 cocoa season, now set to begin on September 1. This opening was accompanied by a highly anticipated announcement: the setting of the farmgate price at CFA francs 1,200 per kilogram. This price increase provides an encouraging framework for the entire value chain, strengthening producers’ confidence and boosting trading market activity.
Open to the public free of charge, the event offered three days filled with discussions and discoveries:
Panels and Conferences: In-depth discussions on sustainability, traceability, and the central role of young farmers.
Exhibitions and Tastings: Showcasing local expertise through cocoa- and coffee-based products.
Institutional Exchanges and Networking: Bringing together leading industry stakeholders, civil society organizations (such as the International Cocoa Initiative), and key companies in the sector.
SONES SA’s participation in this 10th edition reaffirms our commitment to building strong bridges between producers, buyers, and international markets. By promoting transparent and fair transactions, along with rigorous monitoring, we continue to work towards an efficient supply chain that creates value for Côte d’Ivoire. We extend our sincere thanks to all our partners, visitors, and organizers who engaged with our teams throughout these three exceptional days!
